Raining during SXSW
# SXSW
It's SXSW time in Austin which is always enjoyable. Lots of folks come to town as I'm sure you, dear reader, know. It's popular to complain. - a sentence that could stand on it's own - about it, but I have no beef. I'm lucky enough - so lucky! - to get invited to the #meatup party each year and it's a blast to get some free drinks and meat on top of Fogo de Chão. I will give you a free tip: stand towards the doors because that's where the fresh plates of meat merge from. You'll get first and last picks. The meat is delicious. Several years ago, local troublemaker whurley hijacked my kid to consort with the meat-ites.
# Eating Alone
Siting by myself to have a burger is a rare treat. When you have a family, it's not often that you peel away from then as a couple, let alone a single. With my mother in town we have an eager baby sitter, which reminds us of how much time there is in the day: when you're not playing with kids all day, you actually have more time than you'd know what to deal with.
So I got myself a burger here at Top Notch, an old burger place in Austin. Nothing fancy, but with a small side of tater-tots, fits the bill.
I've noticed several other men eating solo, most of them older folks with the look of a casual 80s congressman.
# A column

I've always wanted to get a column, it seems like fun idea. I took over a colleagues' Register column with the first one up yesterday. It'll e monthly, and I'd like to think I'd be good enough to start doing it weekly at some point. (Easy, hoss!)
